Councilmember McHugh Reappointed to Statewide Legislative Policy Committee, Continues Advocacy for Leland

Councilmember Bill McHugh has been reappointed for a third term on the Legislative Policy Committee of the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM). His reappointment is set for September 2025. The 62-member committee helps set legislative goals for North Carolina’s cities and towns. Its focus areas include infrastructure, finances, community development, and municipal operations.

McHugh said he is grateful for the chance to continue serving. He noted his experience over the past two years in supporting municipal rights and home rule for Leland and other towns in the state. He said the committee’s work is important for addressing the challenges local governments face.
