Six months after winning a state title as a member of Hoggard’s 4×800 boys track relay team, junior Riley Kiziah is a state champion once again.
The Hoggard distance runner bested the field in the NCHSAA 8A boys cross-country state championship in Kernersville on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, with a time of 15 minutes, 39.71 seconds. The win gives Kiziah a clean sweep on the highest accolades a cross-country runner can collect, as the junior also won the Carolina Coast Conference and NCHSAA 8A East regional titles.
But Kiziah wasn’t the only area runner who brought home a state crown Saturday. Topsail junior Grayson Dill beat out the 7A state championship to make history as the first boys runner from the Hampstead school to win a cross-country state championship.
