Yokeley due back in court on allegations he contacted minor victim

While the matter of who will lead the Surry County Board of Elections has recently been resolved with Chris White’s appointment as the new chair, former chair James “Jimmy” Yokeley Jr. is preparing to make another appearance in New Hanover District Court.

Prosecutors there are prepared to ask a judge to impose stricter bond conditions on Yokeley, alleging he violated a court order by attempting to contact at least one of the alleged teenage victims in his felony case.

The New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion for bond modification on Oct. 29, stating prosecutors have information indicating Yokeley “attempted to contact at least one of the victims since his release from custody,” according to the court filing.
