Brunswick County Residents: Temporary Water Disinfection Change May Affect Taste and Smell

The Brunswick County Public Utilities Department in North Carolina began its annual water system disinfection changeover on October 7, 2025. The department switched from using chloramines to chlorine to flush the system. Over the past month, crews have flushed water mains and distributed chlorine throughout the county’s water system.
