Brunswick County commissioner candidate arrested on domestic violence charge

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man running for Brunswick County Commissioner on domestic violence charges, according to an arrest warrant.

Clif ‘Clifton’ Cheek, the current chair of the Brunswick County Planning Board, was charged with a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence on Sunday, Nov. 9.

The arrest warrant states that Cheek allegedly grabbed a victim and tackled them to the ground.

He was held under a $1,000 secured bond on Nov. 9 and posted bond on Nov. 10…
