PHOTOS: Aurora Borealis seen around the Cape Fear

CAPE FEAR, NC (WWAY) — A large geomagnetic storm allowed for parts of the United States that don’t typically see the aurora borealis catch a glimpse.

Forecasters say there is potential for better viewing of the auroras Wednesday night with another solar outburst expected.

To view the aurora, it is best to be in a dark area away from city lights and look north. If you can’t see it with the naked eye, try to take a picture using a smartphone camera. You can also use nightmode on the camera as well…
