WILMINGTON, N.C. (WNCN) – A massive fire ignited at a historic building in southeastern North Carolina on Friday afternoon, with heavy plumes of smoke seen rising in downtown Wilmington.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, firefighters responded around 1 p.m. to a working structure fire on the 100 block of South Third Street, which is the location of the Graystone Inn.
Police said the road is currently shut down at Market and Orange Street as crews work to combat the blaze. Drivers are urged to find an alternate route around the area where the fire broke out.
