Meet Robin McCann: Inspiring Accounting and Finance Students at Brunswick Community College

Robin McCann is an Accounting and Finance instructor at Brunswick Community College (BCC). She is recognized for her experience in the field. Originally from Pikeville, Kentucky, McCann followed a nontraditional path to higher education. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Bluefield State University in West Virginia at age 36. After graduation, she and her husband moved to Tazewell, Virginia. There, McCann worked in banking, entrepreneurship, and nonprofit finance.

McCann later decided to pursue teaching. She returned to school for a master’s degree in forensic accounting while managing work and family responsibilities. A decision to move to Southport, North Carolina, brought her to Brunswick County. She first worked as a financial aid counselor at BCC before becoming an instructor.
