Calabash family receives new home through Habitat for Humanity, ending 10-year search

CALABASH, N.C. (WECT)- Noey Carias received her new home through the Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity homeownership program, marking the end of a 10-year journey that began when she moved from California.

Carias, a single mother of two daughters, moved to North Carolina seeking independence and a better life. Since arriving, the family has lived in income-based apartments that were too cramped.

“North Carolina, very risky, driving over here, but I said I can do it, my parents are immigrants, I said if they can do it, I can do it,” Carias said…
