Wilmington sees uptick in pedestrian deaths, data shows

With a little over a month left in 2025, the city of Wilmington has already seen more pedestrian deaths from fatal crashes in a calendar year than it has in at least the previous four years, Wilmington Police Department data shows.

The city has experienced a total of eight pedestrian fatalities this year, bringing the number of such deaths for the period of July 10, 2020-Nov. 15, 2025, to 32.

From July 10, 2020, to the end of that year, there was one pedestrian death. After that, there were seven each in 2021 and 2022, three in 2023 and six in 2024, according to statistics provided by the police department…
