A large development that a Brunswick County community argued would create more problems than homes has been turned down.
The Brunswick County Planning Board on Nov. 10 denied both the proposed Green Hill Road residential development site plan and requested property rezoning. If approved, the project would have placed 1,450 single family homes between Town Creek Road and Green Hill Road in Winnabow.
The nearly 785-acre property is zoned rural low density residential and outlined by Town Creek, Rock Creek and Lewis Swamp. Of the 785 acres, approximately 228 acres are wetlands, according to the proposed site plan…
