WECT INVESTIGATES: Attorneys make arguments in New Hanover Co. Schools lawsuit case

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The fate of a Laney High School student’s athletic eligibility now sits in the hands of a judge after a hearing Wednesday morning.

Attorneys for Jordan Tun, New Hanover County Schools and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association made arguments in front of a judge on Wednesday. Tun is suing the school district and athletic association after he was ruled ineligible from school sports this year.

Tun’s attorneys filed a preliminary injunction, which, if approved, would restore Tun’s athletic eligibility. An attorney for the school district asked for the case to be dismissed, arguing the NCHSAA should determine Tun’s eligibility – not the judge…
