Leland to begin cracking down on fire lane parking with citations

LELAND, N.C. (WECT) – The Town of Leland has announced that the Leland Police Department (LPD) will begin issuing citations for blocking marked fire lanes.

According to the town, staff have spent the past few months repainting fire lanes and updating signage to make fire lanes easier to identify. These areas are important for allowing fire crews, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles to access buildings during emergencies.

Any vehicles blocking fire lanes will be subject to Leland civil citations of $25 and/or state citations that include the cost of court, the town said…
