A previously denied residential development along U.S. 17 near Leland has earned recent approvals despite concerns from the Brunswick County school district.
The Brunswick County Planning Board on Dec. 8 approved a proposed site plan for the planned development named Willow Haven, which was denied in October after flood and traffic concerns were cited. With nearby development being built, schools either at or nearing capacity limits, and traffic already backing up, nearby residents and one board member remain concerned.
After the board denied the development months ago, developers came back with a new plan and hopes for approval.

In October, G3 Engineering and Surveying proposed building 209 single family detached units on a nearly 82-acre property across from Mill Creek Road on U.S. 17.
