Brunswick County property tax payments due Jan. 5

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Brunswick County Tax Office is reminding taxpayers that real estate and personal property tax payments must be paid or postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before Jan. 5, 2026, to avoid delinquency and interest charges.

Tax bills were mailed in July to the owner of record as of Jan. 1, 2025.

Although the reminder comes from Brunswick County, the deadline applies to all property owners across North Carolina. Under state law, annual property tax bills are generated and due by Sept. 1 each year, but they are not considered delinquent until Jan. 5 of the following year…
