SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) – Southport Cares has distributed more than $200,000 to victims of a mass shooting that killed three people and injured six others at the American Fish Company in September.
The nonprofit announced it has raised $346,223.35 from community donations following the Sept. 27 shooting, when a gunman opened fire from a boat into the bar.
Southport Cares has distributed 77 percent of the funds, or $265,278.13, to victims, including families of the deceased, wounded patrons, employees at American Fish and Frying Pan, and support efforts for the survivors…
