WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – More than 1,000 people gathered at Wrightsville Beach for the chilly New Year’s Day plunge into the ocean.
Among the crowd was Toni Dewey, 78, dressed in a red tutu, blue ball cap and ready to take her first plunge after years of watching from the sidelines.
