Developers have submitted plans to build nearly 300 new apartments near The Pointe at Barclay in midtown Wilmington.
The project marks the latest joint multifamily venture between Wilmington-based Cameron Management and Charlotte-headquartered real estate firm Childress Klein. The project, called Element Barclay Flats, follows the joint development of the 405-unit Element Barclay and 286-unit Element Barclay Station in 2018 and 2023, respectively.
“We’re very excited about the project,” Fred Klein, a managing partner with Childress Klein, said on Thursday. “It’s going to be a very high-end project that, I think, will set a new standard for luxury residential multifamily in the Wilmington area. It will be a continuation of the other two projects that we have there … In each of those projects, we’ve learned things, the market’s evolved, and we’ve worked to make the projects better.
