WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Get ready for a dramatic weather roller coaster this weekend. Temperatures soared to near-record warmth Saturday afternoon ahead of a strong cold front that will send Sunday temperatures plummeting. Ahead of the cold front’s passage, rain chances will grow from 20% Saturday night and top out at 30% early Sunday morning. Rainfall amounts will be light with most locations picking up a tenth to a quarter inch or less. After the front, temperatures will drop to the frosty 30s Sunday night and first thing Monday morning. Expect seasonable highs mainly in the 50s for most of the new workweek. Another shot of cold air arrives late next week. Showers are possible on Wednesday and Thursday.
A mild start for your Sunday morning but 24 hours late we will experience subfreezing temperatures and wind chill values in the mid 20s. #winterstrikesback#WECTwx#ILMwxpic.twitter.com/91UAaq7XcA
