Wilmington man held on $1M bond after deputies seize over 1,600 pills, weapons

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A 28-year-old Wilmington man is facing multiple drug charges after authorities seized more than 1,600 pills and several firearms from his residence.

Austin Williams was arrested on Dec. 16 following a traffic stop where deputies discovered Xanax pills, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office (NHCSO).

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Williams’ home following his arrest, during which deputies recovered significant quantities of controlled substances:

  • More than 1,656 Xanax pills
  • About 9 grams of oxycodone
  • About 34 grams of liquid methadone
  • About 35 grams of marijuana

Investigators also seized four firearms, including three handguns and one shotgun. One of the handguns had been reported stolen, NHCSO said.
