Brunswick Town NSDAR celebrates 50th anniversary

SUPPLY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Town Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution marked its 50th anniversary at their January meeting with a look back at the chapter’s history.

Discussions began about forming a chapter in Brunswick County from several women who were members of Wilmington’s Stamp Defiance Chapter. Brunswick Town was selected as the name since it was the first seat of colonial government in the state. Five people transferred from Stamp Defiance, two members at large joined, one lapsed member joined, and seven new members. All of the original members have died except Sandra Dail Thomas of Shallotte who served as the chapter’s first recording secretary.
