WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – New Hanover County’s Board of Education voted 4-3 Monday evening to renew its law firm’s contract through the end of the next school year, following controversy over an attorney’s inflammatory social media post.
The decision came after Brian Kromke, an attorney with Crossley McIntosh Collier Hanley & Edes law firm, posted a Facebook comment in January that included profanity and language offensive to people with disabilities.
Board Chair Pete Wildeboer announced plans to cut ties with Kromke following the post, a decision largely agreed upon by the board. However, the question of whether to remain with his law firm caused tension among board members…
