NHC commissioners to talk park funding, school funding transfers at upcoming meeting

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners will hold its regular meeting next week.

According to the meeting agenda, some items to be discussed include:

  • Approval of the NCDOT signal project and right-of-way at the intersection of Castle Hayne Road and Parmele Road
  • Approval of New Hanover County Schools – Capital Outlay Transfers
  • Approval of New Hanover County Schools – Capital Outlay Transfer – New Hanover High School emergency repairs savings
  • Presentation of Novant Health Five-Year Update
  • Consideration of approval of a $1 million contribution and interlocal agreement with the City of Wilmington for greenspace acquisition for a city park
  • Public hearing on consideration of the adoption of the New Hanover County Destination 2050 Comprehensive Plan Update

NEW HANOVER COUNTY SCHOOLS CAPITAL OUTLAY TRANSFERS

The New Hanover County Board of Education (BOE) seeks approval to reallocate capital project funds for the following purposes.

  • $16,000 for a fence at Alderman Elementary
  • $13,209 for a sidewalk at Myrtle Grove Middle
  • $35,000 for drainage improvements at Ogden Elementary
  • A total of $8,605.72 for partial funding of district-wide stage curtain treatment
  • $70,000 for a freezer at Alderman Elementary
  • $107,700 for a freezer/cooler at Bellamy Elementary
  • $30,000 for the remaining balance for a facility study and master plan at New Hanover High School
  • $88,032.78 for partial funding for a lift station project at Winter Park Elementary
