Wilmington boba brand grows to 6 shops, adds new food menu at one

It’s been a busy couple of years for Dynh Le. At the end of 2024, he started offering self-serve ramen at his Tap Tea Bar boba shops. In 2025, he worked to open the Chow Town food court and added Tap Tea locations in two local beach towns – including one in Wrightsville Beach at 1 N. Lumina Ave.

Already in 2026, there’s a new membership-only bar in downtown Wilmington, and now a new food menu at the Tap Tea location in Carolina Beach in the former Puffy’s Magic Dragon location at 304 N. Lake Park Blvd.

“We had a full kitchen there,” Le said. “So we wanted to come up with a small, but good, menu. I call it street food meets comfort food.”

What’s on the menu?

Le said the Tamago Sando, a Japanese-style sandwich with a fluffy egg omelet, mayo and scallions, the fried chicken sandwich, and the Korean-style chicken wings are early favorites…
