New Hanover County Commissioners split vote on funding park project

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – New Hanover County commissioners voted 3-2 Monday to contribute $1 million toward purchasing 25 acres on Greenville Loop Road for a new park. The deal, which also includes $1 million from the City of Wilmington and $7.75 million from the New Hanover Community Endowment, totals $9.75 million.

Commissioner Dane Scalise, who voted in favor of the purchase, defended the decision as a critical investment in green space.
