Public comment remains open on New Hanover County’s comprehensive plan update, which will guide planning and land-use decisions in the county for decades to come.
The update, called NHC Destination 2050, builds on the county’s existing comprehensive plan, adopted in 2016, and incorporates a focus on natural hazards, infrastructure capacity and the limits of county authority under state law, Rebekah Roth, the county’s planning and land use director, told the Board of Commissioners this week.
The updated plan is the culmination of nearly two years of work from the county’s planning department. The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners opted at its meeting on Monday not to take action on the plan to allow for a full review of public comments…
