Wilmington man faces over 60 felony charges including rape, secret peeping

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Wilmington man faces more than 60 felony charges across 30 open cases filed by the Wilmington Police Department (WPD), including felony secret peeping, second-degree forcible rape, second-degree forcible sexual offense, and violations of a domestic violence protective order, according to court records.

According to WPD, Michael Trey, 38, was arrested in Florida on a fugitive warrant. He is facing 72 charges across multiple cases filed in New Hanover County.

The charges were filed in two separate batches: one on Aug. 15, 2025, and a second on Feb. 18, 2026.

The bulk of the charges, totaling 52 counts, involve felony secret peeping. These offenses cover alleged offense dates from August 2024 through July 2025. Several of those cases also carry charges of second-degree forcible sexual offense and second-degree forcible rape…
