First Alert Forecast: big temperature swings this week and next

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Spotty showers and storms delivered one quarter to one half an inch of rain to most of the Cape Fear late Sunday and Sunday night. This week, rain chances will hover in the 0 to 20% range through Wednesday, grow to 60% along a cold front Thursday, and shut upon the passage of that front Friday.

This cold front will drive the next big temperature change. Ahead of it, ongoing warmth will encourage afternoon highs near and north of 80 through midweek, including a near-record Wednesday. Behind it, have your jacket ready for falling readings Thursday night on to lows around 40 first thing Friday.

Next week’s also looking seasonably active with temperature and rain chance swings…
