Wilmington’s 25th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade set for Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Downtown Wilmington will turn green this weekend as the city celebrates the 25th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The event, one of the largest in southeastern North Carolina, will step off Saturday at 11 a.m. from Cape Fear Community College.

The parade has grown from a small community celebration into a major event featuring veterans’ groups, school bands from elementary through college, local organizations, and recreational clubs. Participants include Vietnam and submarine veterans, the Marine Corps League, Wilmington Senior Softball, and the Notre Dame Club, among others.

Parade organizers said the route begins at Cape Fear Community College on Front Street, passes a review stand at Front and Market streets, turns left at Dock Street, and concludes at Dock and Second streets. The parade is expected to last about an hour and a half, ending around 12:30 p.m…
