Man arrested twice for drug trafficking sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A Goldsboro man pleaded guilty last Thursday to multiple drug trafficking charges and was sentenced to a minimum of 225 months in prison.

Austin Charles Williams entered guilty pleas on March 12 to trafficking in opium or heroin by possession, trafficking in opioids by transportation, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, and trafficking opioids by possession. A judge also ordered Williams to pay a $500,000 fine.

According to the District Attorney Jason W. Smith’s office, the case began on April 25, 2025, when a Wilmington Police Department officer stopped a vehicle near 5002 Market Street after learning the registered owner, Williams, had a suspended license.
