Wilmington hires new safety and risk management director

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The City of Wilmington announced Jason Eaves as its safety and risk management director on Monday, March 23.

According to city officials, Eaves worked as a safety officer at Brunswick County Public Utilities for the past four years. He led safety audits, developed standard operating procedures and implemented OSHA-compliant training programs.

Officials say Eaves will build the framework for the city’s safety and risk department and lead a citywide strategy focused on risk reduction, workplace safety, accessibility and claims management. Eaves will chair the citywide safety committee, oversee incident and accident investigations, and track trends to implement preventative measures.

“This new position reflects the city’s view of safety as a shared, organization-wide responsibility,” City Manager Becky Hawke said. “By bringing these functions together as part of our strategic realignment, the city will have a more proactive approach to safety, with greater focus on prevention, accessibility, compliance and long-term resiliency.”…
