Malfunctioning appliance sparked house fire in Boiling Spring Lakes

BOILING SPRING LAKES, N.C. (WECT) – A malfunctioning appliance sparked a house fire that displaced residents late Sunday night, officials with the Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Rescue said Monday.

Fire units were sent to the 2400 block of Frink Lake Drive around 10:45 p.m. on April 5 after reports of a fire in a refrigerator. The fire chief arrived within three minutes and initially saw nothing visible from outside.

The fire rapidly spread into the attic area within minutes. The Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Rescue said crews brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes…
