Massachusetts Bill Would Require College Credits for Police Recruits

There’s a push in Massachusetts to advance a credential upgrade for police applicants.

The Massachusetts Association for Professional Law Enforcement (MAPLE) has proposed requiring 60 college semester credits (the equivalent of an associate degree) in criminal justice, police science, or another degree approved by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) before recruits can be sworn in.
