SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Eighteen firefighters graduated on Tuesday from the 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program in Massachusetts.
The ceremony was delayed by one day to allow students and staff to attend the funeral for Boston Firefighter Robert T. Kilduff, Jr., who died in the line of duty on May 23. This marks the completion of an intensive training program at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
“Massachusetts firefighters commit themselves to protecting their communities and each other from every kind of hazard,” said State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine. “We can never forget the danger that these men and women confront in service to others. We can never lose sight of the risk to their life and safety. And we must always remember those brave souls who make the ultimate sacrifice so that others might live.”…
