Prior to Worcester City Manager Eric Batista’s annual State Of The City address, Worcester Mayor Joe Petty spoke with Spectrum News 1 and gave his thoughts on where the second-largest city in New England stands. “In my mind, I think the city is well run. We’re doing a good job. We’re still attracting developers. We’re investing in our schools. So there’s a lot of things going on.”
When asked what he would say if he were giving the State Of The City address Petty said, “Making sure people are safe and feel comfortable here in the city. We need to address the unhoused. It’s a challenge everywhere. I talked to Lieutenant Governor about it. And she said, every city has an up-tick. And so we need to address that and making sure the affordable housing is going to be the key. We need to build as much as we can. You see right around the corner here. You’ve got another apartment building going up. You have several more in the area. So we’re trying to address that.”…
