Vehicle fire shuts down Mass Pike in Charlton after two-car crash

CHARLTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A two-car crash on the Mass Pike in Charlton temporarily closed all travel lanes Wednesday afternoon after one of the vehicles caught fire.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, troopers were dispatched shortly after 3:30 p.m. to the crash near mile marker 82.1 on the eastbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike.

One of the vehicles involved became fully engulfed in flames following the collision. All eastbound travel lanes were temporarily closed while emergency responders worked at the scene and crews cleared the roadway.

No injuries were reported, and at least one of the vehicles involved was towed from the scene. By 5 p.m., all travel lanes had reopened, and emergency personnel had cleared the area. The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
