Mass. weather: Rain, severe thunderstorms followed by pleasant Sunday

Massachusetts remains free of any weather watches, warnings or advisories Saturday, but residents should keep an eye on the sky this afternoon and evening as isolated to scattered thunderstorms develop across parts of the state.

The greatest risk for stronger storms is in Western Massachusetts, including the Springfield and Pittsfield areas, where warm temperatures and humidity could help fuel thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts. Some storms have already developed in northern Massachusetts, while additional activity is moving east from New York.

Forecasters say any storm threat should gradually diminish after sunset, although a few showers or thunderstorms could linger into the evening…
