DEVENS — State Sen. John Cronin, D-Fitchburg, recently announced that international medical manufacturer SMC, of Devens, has received a $1,250,000 grant.
The Massachusetts Office of Business Development grant funds come from the Business Builds Capital Grant Program which is a result of the Mass Leads Act, which Cronin helped pass in 2024. The grant program is a competitive funding initiative created to provide support for-profit business expansion and private investment across the state.
“This grant allows SMC to continue its investment and growth in Devens,” Cronin said. “Devens has become one of the manufacturing hubs in Massachusetts, creating new jobs and stimulating economic development in the region. This investment is crucial to keep workers in North Central, and ensures the state remains a leader in advanced manufacturing and life sciences.”…
