Mass. weather: Sunny day could be interrupted by afternoon showers

Massachusetts will get another quiet summer day Tuesday, Aug. 25, with no weather alerts in effect and plenty of sunshine for most of the state.

According to the National Weather Service, a large area of high pressure will keep conditions mostly dry and seasonable across Massachusetts. The one exception could be Western Massachusetts, where a stray afternoon shower or isolated thunderstorm is possible, mainly near Springfield, Pittsfield and surrounding communities.

Any rain that develops is expected to be brief and should fade after sunset. Forecasters do not anticipate severe weather…
