Heavy rain expected in Massachusetts on Tuesday; localized flooding possible

Locally heavy rain could cause street flooding in parts of Massachusetts on Tuesday as a stretch of unsettled weather moves into the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain is expected to reach areas west of the Connecticut River Valley around midnight Monday night before spreading east across the state. Showers are predicted to arrive in the Boston area during the Tuesday morning commute.

The heaviest rain is expected across Southwestern Massachusetts, where a half-inch to an inch could fall.
