Weekend storm: Winter storm warning/watch issued as parts of Mass. could see half a foot of snow

A winter storm warning has been issued in Mass. as parts of the state could see half a foot of snow.

Western Franklin, Western Hampshire and North Berkshire counties all fall under the warning.

As of early Saturday evening, Central Middlesex County; Eastern Franklin; Southern Worcester; Western Essex, Northern Worcester; and Northwest Middlesex County all remain under a winter storm watch beginning early Sunday morning. Parts of Western Hampden and Southern Berkshire counties are under a winter weather advisory.

Areas closer to the coastline will be a mix because of warmer air moving in.

“What we’re tracking most closely is the potential for snow of course,” Meteorologist Tucker Antico said in his Saturday evening forecast. “Rain will primarily fall in the lower elevations and close to the coastlines. Areas in Central Mass. Sunday evening and during the day will be seeing snow.”

Antico shared a look at the snow map Saturday night that showed the chance a half foot of snow or more in some parts of the Bay State while area closer to the coastline will hover around 1-3 inches.
