WORCESTER, MA – On January 28, 2024, Worcester Police officers responded to a theft report at the Target store on Lincoln St, leading to the arrest of three men for an organized retail crime spree. The suspects, identified as George Gvelesiani, 35, from Philadelphia, Vakhtang Barkalaia, 41, from Brooklyn, and Giorgi Adeishvili, 41, from Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, were apprehended following a traffic stop on Lincoln St.
The police intervention began after receiving a call about multiple individuals stealing substantial amounts of merchandise from Target. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were informed that the suspects had fled in a white Toyota Camry. The officers located and stopped the vehicle, detaining its occupants for further investigation.
Surveillance footage reviewed by the officers confirmed that the detained individuals were indeed involved in the shoplifting incident at Target. The footage revealed that the suspects appeared to be working in coordination, and they had successfully stolen merchandise valued at over $1,200.
