KNOXVILLE (WWLP) – A Massachusetts man has been found guilty in a Tennessee court for drug trafficking and firearm charges after police found six firearms and more than 3.5 kilograms of crystal meth in his vehicle.

According to the Department of Justice, 44-year-old Oraine Christie of Massachusetts was driving a Chevy Trailblazer through Knoxville, Tennessee on December 1, 2021 when a police officer stopped the vehicle for traveling too close to the car in front of him.
It was eventually discovered that Christie and his passenger, Shemar Newland, were traveling with 3.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and six firearms, including a stolen Smith & Wesson revolver and a PA-15 assault rifle. An investigation revealed that they were heading to Atlanta after failing to sell the drugs in West Virginia.
Christie will be sentenced at a later date and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Newland previously pleaded guilty to his charges.
