SALEM, New Hampshire – A tragic motor vehicle crash occurred on I-93 South, close to the Massachusetts state line, on February 1, 2024, around 4:25 p.m., resulting in one fatality. New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks troopers were dispatched to the scene at mile marker 0.2, where they encountered a severe collision involving two vehicles.
Preliminary investigations, supported by roadway evidence and witness accounts, revealed that a black 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe collided with a blue 2020 Chevrolet Trax amid heavy commuter traffic. It appears that the Hyundai was unable to decelerate or stop in time to avoid the crash.
The Salem Fire Department personnel were quick to attempt life-saving measures for the driver of the Chevrolet Trax. Despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident prompted a response from multiple agencies, including Troopers from the Troop B barracks in Bedford, members of the NH State Police CAR Unit, Salem Fire Department, and NH Department of Transportation.
