Woman stabbed to death on Douglas Street in Worcester

WORCESTER — A woman stabbed to death in her apartment Wednesday was another violent death in the city in the span of three days.

The stabbing victim was found in her Douglas Street apartment Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the address shortly after 5 p.m. A woman with stab wounds was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.

A man was arrested in what police are calling a “domestic” case. The suspect was expected to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Worcester Central District Court. The case remains under investigation.

Authorities are releasing few details about the killing, citing domestic-violence privacy laws.

Police have not released the names of the stabbing victim or suspect. Douglas Street runs between Cambridge and Grand streets.

There were no homicides this year in Worcester prior to this week.

On Monday, a 17-year-old was pronounced dead at a hospital after a shooting on Shannon Street, police said. Police have made no arrests or released the name of the victim.
