Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Possible Across Parts of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts

Scattered Heavy Thunderstorms Ongoing Across Long Island

10/07/24 7:46am

Good morning everyone. Our cold front that brought severe weather to parts of western New York and Pennsylvania is now knocking on New England’s door and bringing some heavy showers and thunderstorms with it.

While we don’t have the severe thunderstorm outbreak we saw yesterday, we are still seeing some fairly strong storms move across parts of Long Island and Connecticut; which will eventually move into Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts.

Look for the risk of locally strong winds, frequent lightning, small hail, and torrenital rain. Some minor flooding could occur in poor drianage areas. We’ll have this to contend with over the next several hours today, then partial clearing should ensue later today with cooler conditions heading in for tomorrow.

On the positive side, this front and subsequent high pressure, will keep anything tropical coming up the coast this week.
