$10 million scratch ticket: Chef from Boylston finds winning recipe for riches

The recipe for riches began with a stop at Star Liquors for Boylston chef Michael Fitzgerald.

He brought a $20 scratch ticket at the store, at 507 Boston Turnpike in Shrewsbury.

The ticket, part of the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$10,000,000 Cash Blast” game, had a delicious outcome: It was worth $10 million.

Fitzgerald, who cashed in the ticket Thursday, opted for a one-time payment of $6.5 million. That’s before taxes.

Meantime, Star Liquors gets a taste of the success. The store receives $50,000 for its sale of the lucky ticket.
