New Hampshire men arrested after loaded firearm, drugs seized in Palmer

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – Two men from New Hampshire were arrested in Palmer after a loaded firearm and drugs were seized following a police chase.

According to the Palmer Police Department, on Friday at 3:50 p.m., officers received a report of two men arguing inside an SUV on Gates Street in Thorndike. As the men were arguing, one of them got out of the SUV, brandished a firearm, and fired it.

The man got back into the SUV and drove off. The SUV was found on Bennet Street shortly after and was seen swerving at officers as they attempted to stop them. As the officers were following the SUV, the handgun was discarded, along with bags of marijuana.

The officers followed the SUV back to Gates Street and boxed them in, which then struck one of the cruisers. The driver was immediately arrested, however, the passenger ran off on foot. After a brief chase, the passenger was arrested.

Monson Police Department’s K-9, along with UMass Police, located the firearm and a quantity of marijuana, a shell casing from Gates Street, $2,160 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. The recovered firearm was discovered to be a 9MM Baretta handgun with a large-capacity feeding device. No injuries were reported.
