CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Flood Watch is in effect for all of western Massachusetts from 1 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday due to heavy rain that could cause localized flooding.

Wednesday will be wet! Rain will increase intensity through Wednesday morning with soaking rain for Wednesday afternoon and evening. The heaviest rain looks to be between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. Rainfall totals will be around 1 to 3 inches with localized areas seeing up to 4 inches. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Flooding is possible from excessive rainfall as well as northern New England snowmelt. Excessive runoff from heavy rain combined with snowmelt in northern New England will bring the potential for some mainstream river flooding. Flooding may also occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
