Haverhill state Rep. Andy X. Vargas said Monday his Opioid Use Disorder Treatment and Rehabilitation Coverage bill was signed into law Monday by Gov. Maura T. Healey. Vargas said the addiction and substance use disorder bill, co-filed by Rep. Kate Donaghue, made it to the finish line by the end of the session. It expands access to opioid-reversal drugs like naloxone, establishes recovery coach licensure, requires insurance coverage for coaches, protects harm reduction providers and removes barriers that new mothers in recovery face when they give birth.
